August 8th 2008

I'm back! This year has been great so far, let's see what the second half of it brings. New artwork is already uploaded, many Eroticartoons and one pinup. Just visit the "Recent work" section for a list of the new uploaded images.

Speaking of artwork pieces, I have great news for everybody: I decided to start selling some of my promotional postcards. The word "selling" is merely a symbolic term, since the cost will be just one dollar. I'm only offering three kinds of postcards at this time, but the number will increase with time. There are many persons who would like to have a signed copy of my artwork, but even buying prints is an expense. That's why I thought of using the postcards that I already have: you'll get a print of my work, small, yes, but signed personally by me, and also at an affordable price. As you may figure it, this is not done with profits in mind, just the cost of the PayPal fee and the stamp together is at least 60 cents. By the way, did I mention that the flat rate of $1.00 (one american dollar) applies for postcards sent to anywhere in the world? Excited? I hope so! Just go to the Postcards section to read more about it and order your signed postcard today.

Now, this year hasn't been only great regarding work, but in journeys as well. Here's the latest scoop of what my wife and I've done:

1) For starters, we just came back from Brazil last week. We were there for three weeks during July. No, it wasn't a crazy-party-for-all trip, it was a family trip, something that had been cooking for over twenty years. Finally, the time was right and all my family went to visit our relatives there. We stayed in the beautiful city of Belém, Pará (a city way bigger than I imagined, I must say). There we got to visit places like the Mercado Ver-o-Peso.

Below you can see photos of a little boat trip that we took. The trip even had its own little show, with many different dances. As you can see, one of those dances was very hot (and you know how much I hate those kind of performances, ha).

Below you can see some artwork of my liking (painted in the little boat we boarded). Also, at the airport in Rio de Janeiro, you can see my wife comparing her super powers with Superman, and then being transformed into a milk shake. No, it's not the cover of a porn movie, is just a prop from a brazilian fast food burger joint: Bob's, which, from what I understood, is the brazilian equivalent of McDonald's. They even have their own "Big Bob", yes, the equivalent of a "Big Mac".

2) May 17 2008. Going back in time a few months, I went to visit my home town, back in Mexico. The reason? one of my best friends (a salute to best friends), Luis Fernando Pulido, got married in May of this year. My wife couldn't go with me that time, due to work, but I had a good time anyway. It was a quick visit, but it's always good to see the friends you grew up with. The bachelor's party didn't go that well, but the wedding was excellent, so, who cares if the strippers didn't show up? (ok, I cared a little, he). Cheers for Noelia and Luis! Way to go, Pulido!

3) January 12 2008. Going back in time even further, my wife and I attended the AVN Awards 2008. For those of you who don't know what the AVN Awards are, just imagine the Academy Awards (Oscars), but for the porn industry. I'm sure you get the idea. Below you can see a few snapshots (some of them are taken with the camera in video mode), including one of the beautiful Taylor Wane (below right). My wife and I had a hoot. It's truly a different way to enjoy an awards show. We didn't get to go to the AVN Convention this year, but the awards were totally worth it. By the way, my wife is the one in the very last photo below, after the show was over, she was very happy (so was I, ha).

Ok, again, that's all for now. I hope you like the new artwork and that you liked the posted photos. Remember that you can subscribe to my newsletter. Just e-mail me at popswong@popeyewong.com, and include the word "update" in the subject... that's all you need to do! I'll keep trying to update this page, but in the meantime, keep having fun! Take care and thanks for all your support! ~Popeye Wong.

December 21st 2007

Wow! Where did the year go? It seems like Day of the Dead was just last month... ok, that was actually last month, but you get the idea. This year was a very busy one for me, in and out of the artwork field. To make things worse, I suffered a computer crash, that set me back on many projects (kids, remember to always back up your files!). But now I am back and just uploaded thirty two new Eroticartoons, five new Pinups and one new Fantasy piece. I won't post the links here, since there are too many. Just click on the link for each gallery: the new Fantasy piece and the new Pinups are at the very top of their respective galleries. The new toons are at the very bottom of the Eroticartoons gallery. Speaking of Eroticartoons, I have to mention that almost half of the new toons are part of a new line of chubby girls (or "Chubbies"), commissioned by Ma Foster (read more about it in the "newspaper" above). It features a character with a "completely full" figure. It was a great experience and a lot of fun doing these images. I hope you get to enjoy them too.
Below I'm posting a few photos from a couple of places I visited since my last update:

1) July 28:
COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL IN SAN DIEGO. This trip was awesome, my wife and I had an excellent time. It was an exhausting but a fabulous experience (I went there solely as a visitor, not a vendor). There was so much artwork there that it was truly overwhelming (in a good way). For anybody who is thinking about attending, don't waste any more time and go there this year. The next Comic-Con International is in July 2008 (24-27), in San Diego, as every year. The URL, in case you're interested, is http://www.comic-con.org. My wife didn't waste any chance and took photos with some of her favorite artists; here she is with Greg Horn, Olivia de Berardinis and Jennifer Janesko. We also took a photo of friend artist Spencer Davis and his lovely wife (check out his delicious sculptures at http://www.bootybabeart.com). Needless to say, I'm a big fan of their work myself, their artwork is incredible, each one in their own style. Additionally, I want to express my admiration and respect towards Greg Horn, besides having an enviable amount of talent, he is also an extremely down to earth person; he took the time to talk for a few minutes to my wife and even invited us to his forum when she mentioned she's a great fan of tagging signatures. Please visit his forum at http://www.606studios.com/bendisboard/forumdisplay.php?f=34 or click his photo to visit his newly revamped website.

I also took photos of her in front of the Stickerchick booth. I've always been a big fan of the artwork featured in their merchandise (going back to the times of XXtremeinc). And of course, I also took a photo of the Heavy Metal magazine booth. Anybody who knows me well, can tell how much of a fan I am of the magazine and the artists featured there. I was featured on the backcover of the May/June 2006 issue, and I can't tell you how much of a satisfaction that was (let's aim for the cover now!). By the way, I'm being featured on their website, at the weekly updated galleries (wooohooo!). You can see my artwork there at http://www.heavymetal.com/page.cfm?id=1272.
Last, but not least, here there are a couple of misc photos from the Comic-Con, including one snapshot of the infamous (but oh so yummi) Suicide Girls booth. Plus, a picturesque comic fan and a cow that would wake up basic instincts in more than one bull.

2) October 6TH: GLAMOURCON IN LOS ANGELES. My wife and I attended GlamourCon for the first time and we really, really enjoyed it. Same as the Comic-Con, we went there as visitors (next year is our chance to have a booth there). We got to stay at the Hilton Hotel, where the convention took place; that made it really easy and convenient for us. The highlight of my visit there, was not only seeing porn star Taylor Wane again, but also to get her to sign a drawing that I did based on her as a model (you can check the photos below). The drawing? "Comfort zone", from my pinup galleries. As always, I extend my sincere respect and thanks to Taylor, she was the first model to give me permission over her images, which gave my artwork a big boost (with a big bust). At the bottom, a photo of my wife, in front of another Stickerchick booth (I told you I love that company).

3) October 27: FETISH & FANTASY HALLOWEEN BALL IN LAS VEGAS. Oh, wow, this party was absolutely fun. My wife and I attended this event for the first time ever, and we're very glad we did. We saw so many costumes... it was just incredible. My wife was dressed as an adorable vamp girl, meanwhile I myself went dressed as a sexy cow... ok, ok, I wasn't sexy at all, but for some reason, a lot of girls wanted to grab my udder (that should count, shouldn't it?); come to think about it, I should have given a call to the cow girl we found at the Comic-Con. If you ever get a chance to spend a Halloween in Las Vegas, THIS is the event to attend. Below you can see a few photos from the event; you'll see how my wife and I looked in our outfits, and also a few other interesting characters. Just look at my face, you can see that I wasn't enjoying the party at all (who would enjoy a place like that, surrounded by beautiful women dressed as hot characters?).

4) November 8: MY BIRTHDAY! I celebrated my birthday in a family-wise way. My wife and I took everybody to dinner, and by everybody, I mean our close family that lives here in Nevada. But, since it was my birthday, I had to pick the place where to eat dinner, so I chose Hooters (oh, yeah! I still had to have eye candy in my birthday!). There isn't much to say about that night, except of course, the fact that I spent a great night with my family, adults and kids. Plus, I had the chance to play with a hoola hoop on my hips, since it was my birthday. I sucked at it, but at least I won a Hooters shot glass (another one for the collection!). Below you can see me, along with a Hooters girl and the infamous hoola hoop.

Again, that's all for now. I'll be traveling to Mexico tomorrow (December 22), to spend Christmas there. I should be back right before New Year's Eve, however, it will take me a while before I do another update. My best wishes to all the fans of my artwork (and also to non-fans), whatever you celebrate during this season. Thanks for stopping by and let's start a new year! ~Popeye Wong.

July 2nd 2007

New image added to my Fantasy & Horror gallery. It was done as part of the "Museum of Oddities" (Freak Show) back in April: "Long beard Sally".

On a very interesting and happy note, I got to meet three taggers in person, for the first time. That was a very special day for me, not only because they're the first taggers that I meet in person, but also because they've supported my artwork for a long time now. Courtney, Candee, Grams (Annie) and I, along with three more splendid guests (including my wife), spent a great noon, at a brunch buffet (mmmh!, I love buffets!). I even got to sign a print for Candee. Which print was it? Of course, the one of the image I did as a gift for her: "Candee Pants". Here are a couple of photos (just check out my face in the first one):

That's all for now. Have fun everybody, I'm off to Mexico for three weeks. ~Popeye Wong.

May 7th 2007

New digital image added to my Pinups gallery: "Receptive" (after a long, long break of doing pinups). Enjoy!

The Tags Showcase for the month of May is already up, check it out at http://showcase.popeyewong.com.

Winners for the "Popeye Wong artwork challenge" at Right Graphics forum are already showcased, check their creations HERE.

It's been three weeks since my last update, and I must say that I've taken things easy. I've been a bit busy, spending time with my family, responding to mails, organizing my new plan of work, etc. The time to go back to commissions is here, this week I start officially; however, my price-break offer is still available, until May 15th (more information at http://commissions.popeyewong.com).

Before I go, here you have a couple of recent photos:

Here I am with my wife at the Blue Man Group show. If you're considering to go see them, by all means go! go! GO! (and find out why we're covered in plastic).

Again, my wife and I at the wedding reception of two of my best friends, Daria (formerly Kniazeva) and Mike Biggs, who got married on May 5th (Cinco de Mayo russian wedding!). Don't forget to check their awesome work at http://www.causticimagery.com. A few of my former co-workers (when I was a caricaturist) were there too. Also, check the photo of Andrea's tatoo, isn't it niiiiiiiiiiice?

Speaking of wedding, our third anniversary comes up tomorrow (May 8th), the first one since my wife and I are back together. If you see a sign of "Do not disturb" in my website tomorrow, now you know why.

That's all for now. Keep having fun and until next time. ~Popeye Wong.

April 12th 2007

One hundred new images have been added to my Eroticartoons gallery. This project took me quite a while to complete due to different reasons. To all those fans of my work, I'm happy to announce that every single one of the new images is available for sale as a print, and an autograph on them is included (if the client wants to); all of this for under fifteen american dollars (shipping included to the United States). To read more about this, please visit the "Buying prints" section in the main menu. Plus, for those taggers fans of my work, I think you'll be happy to read that every single one of the new images (and most of the old ones) is available as a "tube". Some old of the old images even have some extra tubes. The tubes are in Photoshop format, but if you're a user of Paint Shop Pro, you shouldn't have any problem opening them. If you have any questions, please send me an e-mail to popswong@popeyewong.com. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with Paint Shop Pro at all, so please keep that in mind when you send your question.

Starting in May of this year, I'll be accepting commissioned work again. Almost half of the hundred new images are commissioned and/or collaboration work, and that shows how important this aspect of my career is for me. It's been a great experience to create those images that reflect the ideas of my clients. To each one of them: thanks for supporting my work. A few of these commissioned pieces were actually freebies that I offered to different persons a long, long time ago. Unfortunately, now it is basically impossible for me to do more freebie samples. That's why during these last monthts I tried to finish as many freebies as I could, knowing that I wouldn't be able to do it again for a long time. My sincere apologies for making this process so random, there wasn't any order in which I did those images, I just drew, drew and drew all the pending images that I had knowledge of. For more information about my future opening to commissioned work, plus, a special price break, please visit the "Commissioned artwork" in the main menu.

As many of you know, I've temporally suspended the making of "lines" of commissioned toons. With "lines", I mean a group of images that share the same characteristics/theme, and that are commissioned by the same client. An example of these mentioned "lines", are the images of Jaimi Standifird and also Kattitude. The line commission will be open again in the near future. Also, since I'm mentioning the line work, I want to promote the mini-line (five images) based on the ideas of my friend "Fragile" (Jo), I hope you enjoy them. She waited a long time for this moment, but now the wait is over.

The "Tags showcase" is back, as well as the "Banners & Links" section, where you'll find a few links, including tag tutorial websites like "Crazed Creations " (from my friend Jo), "Wicked Dreamz" (from my friend Wicked), or tag forums, like "Jaimi's PlayHouse" (from my friend Jaimi).

I've received many letters asking me several question about what happened to the images known as "Kattitudes". I'm happy to announce that those images have been added to my galleries. For a certain time, Kattitude (or Kat) was the owner of the copyrights to those images. Now those rights are under my property, and since they're inside my galleries, they fall under the same terms of use as any other image on my website. To answer another question: yes, I drew all those images, and Kat provided the ideas for most of the images. IMPORTANT NOTE: the fact that the copyright information on those images has changed, does NOT mean that you should delete your old tags. It makes me very proud to see my artwork inside the creations of taggers, and I certainly don't want this technical change to affect anybody's work. Please, do keep using your old tags with no fear, at least not from me. This situation is similar to the copyright change on the images of Jaimi Standifird last year: the official information changed, but I personally asked that no tag be deleted due to this change. I can't answer all questions here, but I'll gladly answer any question related to this matter (just contact me at popswong@popeyewong.com). More information about this and other news, can be found in the "Frequently Asked Questions" section (inside the "Taggers and Tubers" section at the main menu).

Speaking a bit about my personal life, I'm very happy to share that my life is getting better and better each day, personally as well as economically (little by little, but at a very steady pace). As some of you know, last year was a rough year in my personal life, due to many factors. I want to announce, officially, that I'm back in the United States (living in the Las Vegas area), after two years of a long immigration process. I've been back for almost a year, but I have kept a low profile and didn't announce anything officially. I want to thank all of the people who sent letters of support to my wife and me. It is great to be back, and also to be back in action, since there are so many projects for the future.

What's been going on with my life lately? A lot, and I like to remember the good things. I just got back from another trip to Mexico, the first one to my hometown (Ciudad Obregón, Sonora), since I returned to Las Vegas. The ocassion? A small break and vacation, plus, a visit to my great-grandmother, who just turned one hundred years old this past April 7th. A hundred years? it seems like it's the perfect chance to introduce the hundred new cartoons.

Another great event was the "Museum of Oddities" (Freak show), organized by Daria Kniazeva and Mike Biggs, terrific artists and even better friends of mine (http://www.causticimagery.com). In the photo below, you can see my wife and I, next to one drawing I did especially for their show (Long Beard Sally).

I can't mention all that I've done in the past year on this single page, but I do want to mention that despite all the roller coaster rides that this life makes us go through, last year was a great one for my wife and me. Having said that, I'll say good bye for now, but not before mentioning (I have to) the fact that I attended the AVN convention again this year; and this time I took a photo of myself next to the voluptuous Taylor Wane. She was one of the first models to support my career when she allowed me to use her photos to create a couple of images (no, the painting behind her is not mine, it is the creation of that great authority in the pinup world: Olivia de Berardinis). I send my sincere respect (and drool) to Taylor.

This is all for now. If you made it this far, congratulations and a big thank you. I'm not very good at keeping everybody updated, but I'll try to be more constant at it. Please enjoy my images, but more importantly: have fun, that's the main goal of my galleries. Until next time. ~Popeye Wong.
